Rascal Flatts On the “Today Show” – A Fan Review

Kelly Jean is a HUGE Rascal Flatts fan. I know this for a fact and I have only met her a couple times. She has the same excitement and energy that I do about the guys. It also shows in her commitment….. Read about her trip with friends to New York City to see Rascal Flatts on the “Today” show last Friday.

The fan club/VIP line began forming minutes before midnight on Thursday, July 9th. Courtney and I, along with our friend Loraina, were at the head of the line ready to camp out all night. We were quickly joined by fellow fam members who were just as eager for the morning to come as we were. Street Team leader, Lauren, was in charge of handing out Rascal Flatts American Living T-shirts to the fan club members. Around 3am, I, along with many other fam members, began cutting up our T-shirts in order to personalize them, and give them something extra!

By 5am, employees of the TODAY show instructed the fan club to form a separate line from the VIP Today Show members, and we were soon brought into the fan club pen. Courtney and I were lucky enough to grab front row spots right in front of the stage. Our patience and all-nighter had paid off!

Around 6:20am, the boys came out for sound check. We were treated to a preview of the events to come! The guys sang Me and My Gang, Here Comes Goodbye, and Summer Nights (twice)! The boys were in great moods and excited to come back to perform later that morning.

Finally, the moment of truth arrived at 8:40am. Gary, Jay, and Joe Don, came out and signed autographs and took pictures with the fans. Courtney and I were among the fans that were able to get pictures with the boys. After taking a picture with me, Joe Don joined the rest of the guys on stage to perform their 3 song set for the TODAY Show. The crowd was going wild for the boys in purple. After Matt Lauer presented the guys with a special plaque in honor of their achievements over the last decade, a birthday cake was brought out for Gary, and the crowd serenaded Happy Birthday to him (Gary turned 39 on the day of the show).

Overall, it was a great day! The guys were on point and the crowd loved every minute! It was a beautiful day full of great music and great times!

So if you ever wanted to know what it was like to go to a TV taping there you go! The trick is GET THERE EARLY! It sounds like you girls had a fabulous time! Can’t wait to hear about all of your other road trips to see Rascal Flatts and you help make them “Unstoppable”.
