Taylor Swift doesn’t care if people think of her as pop or country or what-not. She tells the Calgary Herald that when she writes a song, she doesn’t “think about genre, or what radio station would play it.” Instead, she says the only thing she thinks about is the person she’s “writing the song to.” Taylor says for her, “music is very confessional.” She says she uses it to say things she “would be afraid to say to someone’s face.” And, she says she thinks “the feeling of needing to tell someone something is a universal feeling.”
