My family had a great time at the 3rd Annual Alex LeVasseur Memorial Skate & Music Festival on Sunday afternoon. It was held at Jim Warren Park in Franklin, TN and was free to the public. There were tents set up everywhere with food, drinks and plenty of things for the kids to do.
Unfortunately, I didn’t make it there until after Pearl Heart and Ricky Young & Red White Blue performed. I was really disappointed to miss Pearl Heart. Jeffrey Steele told us amazing things about the girls when we ran into him at CMA Fest this year.
We did make it just in time for my son to see the awesome 6th Ave/Franklin Skate Shop Demo. These boys on skateboards were doing amazing things. And that is what this entire festival was about. The Alex LeVassuer Foundation raises money and works in conjunction with Sixth Avenue skate park in Nashville to aide overlooked and underprivileged youth by creating programs to keep them motivated in school and life through skating! We also made it in time to watch one of my favorite up and coming duo’s. LoCash Cowboys! These brothers are amazing on stage. They have that “it” factor to them with a crazy side that you are sure to fall in love with. They have a brand new album coming out very soon and will give you a date as soon as we have one. Check out our YouTube Video of them singing Michael Jackson’s “Billy Jean”.
Jeffrey Steele took the stage after LoCash and as usual doesn’t disappoint his crowd. I wasn’t able to stay for his entire set but what we were able to see was great. Singing number one songs that he wrote for Rascal Flatts, a few Montgomery Gentry party songs and one of my favorites “Get Right With the Man”.
I almost forgot one of my favorite parts of the whole day! Gavin DeGraw took the stage and sang three songs. A really great surprise for the day! I know he’s not “country” but that man’s voice makes my knees buckle.
I wish that we could have stayed for the entire show but my kids are still young and at an age where when it’s time to go it’s time to go. It’s definitely an event that we will have on our calendar again next year.
