George Strait: Artist of the Decade

Garth Brooks passed the Artist of the Decade torche onto King George Strait last night.  The show was pretty impressive, and it’s always touching to witness someone meet their idol or hero…Everyone did a superb job…Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton surprised me with a lovely duet; Taylor Swift always brings that innocent daughter-lookin-up to daddy vibe; Jamey Johnson made me laugh; and John Rich made us all see that even the biggest stars are fans when he had George sign his guitar.

The icing on the cake though, was when Dierks Bentley, LeAnn Womack, LeAnn Rimes, John Rich, Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Jamey Johnson, Taylor Swift, Jack Ingram, Brooks & Dunn, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Montgomery Gentry, Sugarland, Keith Urban, Jamie Fox(why the heck does he keep showing up at these things?), and Martina McBride got up to accompany George for the grand finale…”Troubadour.”

I thought this was an awesome show! Some really good singing and of course I’m partial to Keith Urban and I thought he did an outstanding job of singing Marty Robbins songs!! Great show!
