Tawny and I had the extreme pleasure to attend the taping of CMT’s Invitation Only Darius Rucker last night. It was a very intimate setting with couches and lounge chairs set up throughout the set for about 150 or so attendees.
For once I am not going to spill the beans about everything that happened last night. I really want you to watch the show when it airs on CMT in July (or Dish Network subscribers will get to see it in June). We will give you a reminder closer to the date.
What I am going to tell you is that Darius has a sense of humor that will capture your heart. He is more country than a lot of what is playing on country radio right now and the emotion that exudes from him when he sings can bring tears to your eyes.
Darius is also very gracious. We were not allowed to bring a camera to the event since it was being taped for TV BUT once he was done with the show he told everyone to take out their camera phones. He lined up at the door way on the way out of the venue and took pictures and signed autographs for EVERYONE!
If you have not seen Darius Rucker live yet please go out and see him. He is AMAZING and I promise if you love country music you will walk away a fan. The CMT Invitation only shows are very intimate with a chance for fans to ask some of their favorite artists unique and deep questions about their lives and careers. This summer you will get the chance to see Brad Paisley, Sugarland and Darius Rucker on the CMT stage.

Wow!! Came across this in a google search trying to find out exactly when this was gonna air so I could plan to watch it… I actually took this picture! They did what the invitaion said and did not bring camera phones in, but I took mine and just turned it off. (I know… shame on me) So , I offered to take a pic with my camera and email it to them. For all the picures before this, one of the ladies in the production crew was counting to 3 for the shot. She didn’t do that when I was taking the pic so I asked her if she was gonna count. I was actually being serious, but it came out sounding like a smart ass and Darius started laughing as I snapped the picture! I agree, this was an amazing show. If you weren’t one of the 100 or so that were there, you need to watch this! If I could sing as well as Darius, I swear I wouldn’t ever talk… I would sing everything I had to say! I’m still amazed at Darlus’ talent and I’m glad the recognition he deserves is finally coming to him.
