The first tour stop on Keith Urban’s ‘Escape Together World Tour’ is Thursday and last night, 12 semi trucks pulled into the Mohegan Sun Casino to begin unloading the 65 tons of equipment that will allow  thousands of people to ‘Escape Together’ for a few hours. 

There are some major changes to the stage set-up this year.  The ‘Love, Pain, and the Whole Crazy Thing’  stage set up had one single enourmous video screen with a never-ending catwalk reaching out into the middle of the arena.  This year; however, Keith is trying to gain even easier access into the crowd.

“We built a stage specifically for this tour,” said Urban. “The actual physical stage we are performing on is designed to get me into the audience as easily as possible. I have a tendency to want to jump right into the audience and be part of them, and the way we’ve designed the stage makes that much easier for me.”

The five 60 foot video screens, cables, and 3,500 square foot stage takes nearly 8 hours to set up…and the goal is to create a place to escape to…

“My goal is to make sure that the fans in the very back have just as great an experience as the guy in the front,” said Urban. “It’s the reason we called the tour ‘Escape Together’ – because it’s what we strive to do – bring everyone together.”

I’ll be escaping with Keith in Huntsville and Nashville.  I am really really excited to check out this amazing stage set up.  The word on the street is that this is the most intimate and amazing stage set-up to date.
