The Carter Twins in LA – A CMTT Correspondent Review

Our CMTT Correspondents are back from the Carter Twins show at The Mint in Los Angeles and boy do they have a story to tell!  We want to thank Annie and Aimee for taking the time to write up their review and for making the drive to LA for the show.   Unfortunately, Annie’s camera wasn’t working that night.  The only picture that we have is from Ellie and Bree (two ladies that they met that night) Thanks for the picture ladies.   Check out what you are missing if you haven’t seen the Carter Twins yet!

We couldn’t have picked a better night to see The Carter Twins! Just yesterday CMT announced that the guys have made it to the initial nomination phase for the upcoming CMT Video Awards, that will be taking place in Nashville in June. They are up for two awards – Best Duo and Best Breakthrough Video.

They started off the show with an energetic performance of “So What”. It was apparant right away these guys are the real deal! With their crystal clear harmonies and teriffic stage presence, we knew right away we were in for a treat!

With Zach on keyboards and Josh on guitar they led us through a several song set, including a song they had recently written called “Eraseable”. Stripped down with just a rythym guitar and their two voices – it was one of my favorites of the night!

Aimee’s favorite was a new song they had recently written with one of members of Lady Antebellum called “Aimee, Just Stay” ( they dedicated the song to us!) Hmm – wonder why she liked that one so much!  Now, if this songs makes it on their new album coming this summer, and it should – it was awesome, we’re hoping they’ll use our personal “preferred” spelling of the name!  Guess we’ll have to wait and see!

She also loved their cover of the Tom Petty classic “Free Fallin”.  They also did a version of “My Maria”, a song from the 70′s that Brooks & Dunn had a big hit with a few years back. The audience loved “My Maria”, and with encouragement from Zach and Josh, we were all clapping and singing along!

Thoughout the show, which included the songs “I Should Have Kissed Her” – “Nobody Does It Quite Like You” and “Reinvent The Wheel”, Zach moved back and forth across the stage with ease – he’s quite the dancer! I think both guys managed to make eye contact with everyone there. They were very humble and that really impressed me! Backed by a superior band, including Tommy on drums, Brad on bass, and Brandon on electric guitar, the guys moved through their set with ease, on point with every song. The final song of the night was the twice nominated “Heart Like Memphis”. The smiles that were on their faces during the song could have brought out the sun on a rainy day!

We met two young ladies from our hometown of Huntington Beach, Ellie and Bree – they were just the sweetest things! After the show, Josh and Zach came out and gave hugs and autographs to all. I also want to mention what a great father these two guys have. Mr. Carter introduced himself to us before the show and made sure we had everything we needed. He’s one proud dad, and he’s got a right to be!

I consider myself to a pretty hard core country fan, and just so you know, I’ll be buying their new CD as soon as it comes out! My Aimee’s a bit shy, but man, she was as impressed with the show as much as I was! I have no doubt the future burns bright for The Carter Twins!  Make sure you go over to CMT to vote for them, we would LOVE to see them perform on the CMT Video Awards in June! Aimee and I would like to thank CMTT for the opportunity to see the show and tell you all about it!

The show was great! They sounded amazing live – which is so rare; it was definitely a pleasant surprise. Not to mention that they are extremely nice guys; they came up to my friend and I after the show to talk for a couple minutes and seem really down to earth.

  2. Leeann Ward says:

Nice review, Annie! I don’t know anything about The Carter Twins yet, but it sounds like you were able to attend a nice, intimate concert, which is the most memorable kind.

Josh & Zach are extremley down-to-earth guys who care about their fans. They want us to get to know them on a deeper leval and they wanna get to know us on a deeper leval and I think that’s really important. I love them so much. They’re heading to Tucson this week so hopefully I’ll get to see them & take pics with them. If I can’t go with my fam, then hopefully my friends and I will go together. This is a really good review of the guys Annie and Aimee. Now I really can’t wait to meet them. :]
