  1. My four teenagers: Drew (19), Melynda (18), Patience (17), and Zack (16) have taught me to “Learn to Live” – they are my life and every day thing bring something truly special in that day that teaches me about life! That and 4 teenagers driving 4 graduations, 4 proms, a homecoming queen, etc…every day is a gift from them.

I would say that the thing that has helped me learn to live the most is forgiveness. It has helped me learn to live my life without regret and to be happy for what is my life.

  3. Miranda says:

I think that my kids have given me my best lessons and they have really taught me how to learn to live. When I look into their eyes and see the happiness and the hope that they have to succeed I know there is a reason to get up each day and live life to the fullest.

  4. Heather says:

When I realized that a peaceful and joy filled life does not happen by accident and started living my life with that goal in mind.

I am currently a 911 Dispatcher for my county and my job is…well… a little overwhelming to say the least :) Day in and day out I am consistently reminded of how quick life can turn from pleasant to tragic. How often do we sit in our comfy homes watching the evening news thinking “wow, I could never imagine something like that happening to me..” -but believe me, they HAVE happened, they DO happen and they WILL happen. We MUST be grateful for every breath we take until the day we take our last one. Spend a day in the life of a 911 Dispatcher and you will quickly understand how I learned to live while I’m still living : )

I thnk I really learned to live after reading the following quote by legendary basketball coach John Woodfin.
He said: “You can’t live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you”. Whatever you do doesn’t have to be a big thing, or an expensive thing. It can be as simple as giving someone a smile, a ride to the grocery store, or a phone call to check up on them. When I can, I do more.
And I learned John Woodfin is right. You really can’t live a perfectda without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you. Donna

I have learned that life is sooo precious through past experiences i have come across in my life. I lost a baby girl at the age of 19 when i was just 21 weeks pregnant, so going through that told me to never give up . I learnt alot through that sad time and my life changed so much after that. I became a stronger person and to make sure i lived my life to the fullest the same as how i would of wanted my little girl to. I had to learn that she was in a better place living a great life. I now have a little girl who is 4 and having her was the best thing ever!! she has made me learn to live knowing that she depends on me and looks up to me!! this makes me want to LEARN to LIVE everyday of my life. To sum it all up i feel FAMILY makes me live :)

  8. Kay says:

I am a cancer survivor & am proud of it. Since that time I have learned to deal with so much & look at life so differently. Take NOTHING for granted; live your life to the fullest for no one knows how long you will have it to live. Thanks for this great contest; I love this site.

  9. Crystal says:

I learned to live after my 19 year old cousin unexpectedly passed away. Really showed me that you don’t know what tomorrow holds or if you’ll even get a tomorrow so you should live & enjoy today.

  11. Teresa says:

I learned to live when I lost both of my parents at 10. Something like that would kill most people, but I believe it made me stronger. I know that it made me the person I am today, I would not be the same if they were still with me.

  12. Ed says:

I can’t think of one single time where I decided to live my life; it has happened multiple times throughout my life. When my nieces and nephews were born it made me realize how life is about more than myself and I have to live in a way that makes their lives better. My earliest memory of deciding that I have to learn to live is when my cousin died of cancer when we were both 13. He had so much going for him and had so much to look forward to. Now I try to live my life to the fullest extent possible knowing that I can take advantage of the opportunities that he can never get.

  13. Alison says:

oops I entered in the wrong place before

Something that has taught me to “Learn to Live” I guess would just be the whole going 9 hours away from college thing. Although my parents are always a phone call away if I ever need anything. I had to learn to take care of things for myself and not have that backbone to rely on that I had had for 18 years before. And for my first 3 years of college everything had gone fine. But this year tragedy struck… in the form of 3 HUGE tree limbs on my car. I had to women up and learn how to deal with it and take care of everything on my own when if i had been at home mom and dad would have taken care of everything. This was a good lesson to have happen to me a few months before I move to Nashville to be on my own.

  14. Colleen says:

Being diagnosed with breast cancer a year ago made me realize what is really important in life – Wonderful family and friends! They really helped me learn to live and were there for me every step of the way. So far so good.
