Verizon Customers Can Get Up Close and Personal With Keith Urban

If you’ve got Verizon Wireless, you’re about to get some pretty stellar Keith Urban perks.  Keith will be doing a “no frills” club tour before the release of his upcoming album, Defying Gravity.  He’ll be performing the following dates:

3/18 – Dallas,TX -  House of Blues
3/24 – San Francisco, CA – The Fillmore

3/27 – Los Angeles, CA -  House of Blues
3/30 – Chicago, IL -  Joe’s Bar on Weed Street
4/1 – New York City, NY – Webster Hall
4/3 – Philadelphia, PA -  Theater of the Living Arts

Clubs are where it all began,” said Urban. “There’s just something about the way the band grooves and how the audience gets right up there close and personal, and I love it. So for me there’s a nostalgic cool factor in doing this with Verizon.”

Mobile Tickets

Fans have an opportunity to get tickets to the Verizon VIP Tour featuring Keith Urban “No Frills” by downloading his music or videos from Verizon Wireless’ V CAST Music service. Select fans will be sent mobile tickets over-the-air, directly to their Verizon Wireless phones for entry to the event

Verizon customers will also get the opportunity to download tracks off Defying Gravity before the album releases on March 31st.

“Hit the Ground Runnin’”

· March 6 – Available in ringtones and ringback tones

· March 10 – Available in full-song downloads over the air

“Standing Right In Front of You”

· March 13 – Available in ringtones and ringback tones

· March 17 – Available in full-song downloads over the air

“If Ever I Could Love”

· March 20 – Available in ringtones and ringback tones

· March 24 – Available in full-song downloads over the air

I think it’s amazing that Keith is taking to the clubs “where it all began.”  But, I think it totally stinks that he’s not gonna do a Nashville or Atlanta date.  I lose either way cuz I don’t have verizon.  Nice…I was hoping it would be a fanclub event…Looks like fanclub members have to also be Verizon customers to get this perk.

**UPDATE**  Fanclub members can now enter to win tickets thru the fanclub website….woohoo…You’ll have to fork over the money for travel and hotel though….Doesn’t it seem backwards…shouldn’t it be a fanclub event with a chance to win entrance for non-fanclub members?

I’m convinced Keith doesn’t care about his fan club. That’s the only answer I can come up with.

  2. Anonymous says:

I think Keith is pulling a Kanye West and wants less fans. Because he is doing a good job pissing everyone off!

  3. Bobbie says:

Keith Urban is just the greatest!!

I am so looking forward to his new album “Defying Gravity” the snippets I have heard of the new songs are wonderful… I already love “till summer comes around” and am counting the days until it is released on March 31.
the chance to win tickets to his “no frills” private concerts is exciting, maybe I will be lucky, but if not someone is gonna be … yippee to the winners!

  4. Bobbie says:

Oh I see the whiners and belly achers have jumped on here, too bad.
YOu all are what makes this world a crummy place. If you were the winners, or had the best chance then you’d be happy… but not for others I see. UGGGHHH on you all.
I doubt you’ d be happy with any fun things Keith or other artist try to do as It is all about YOURSELVES you sniveling brats!!

  5. KC says:

Bobbie, that is not the point of this post. Why is it that the fans are thought about last over and over, if they’re thought about at all? Just once I’d like to be put first… we don’t even get to hear new music first! Instead people that aren’t even in Keith’s FAN CLUB get to download the music before paying fan club members! Does that seem fair to you?
Go ahead and call us brats, but you’re totally missing the point. And nothing is going to change unless we say something! I want a change and until one is actually made, I’m going to keep saying that Keith doesn’t care about his true fans. I’m sorry if that makes you unhappy but it’s the truth.

  6. TawnyTucker says:

KC…you’re right…it’s not about getting up close to Keith…have the best seats…It’s about Keith standing up for those who stand up for him….We all love him and bust our butts to promote him….the fans should get first dibs…always….those who do the work and pay their dues…that is what should happen.

  7. TawnyTucker says:

Hey All You Keith Urban FanClub Members- If you wanna tell Keith about your ill-feelings…Make a video and email it to me…Less than one minute long please…It’s time for change! We can make it happen!!!! Tawny@countrymusictattletale.com

This whole thing just kind of bums me out. I was hoping for some great changes with the new tour. I waited over 2 months after my membership expired; debating on if I should renew or not…only renewed hoping that the new era of “great perks for fans” would be upon us! Keith has brought so many amazing people into my life through our mutual love of his music. Some of my most unforgettable experiences in my life are due to this man. Maybe he doesn’t totally realize just what is going on with the fanclub stuff because he IS so busy with the writing and music end of it AND spending some family time, too with his wife and bundle of joy. Maybe he has some people that he entrusts to make the best decisions on his behalf for the fan club members and he doesn’t realize what is all going on? I’d LOVE to give him the benefit of the doubt that if one of us loyal funs could actually physically talk to him face to face that he’d change things around? Will I stop going to concerts? I don’t think I could keep myself away, because they ARE so much fun. I’ll just keep hoping that one day, there will come a HUGE change and the MV fanclub will run like some of the other artists’ fanclubs; and the true fans will get the 1st perks.

  9. MR says:

The fact that Keith’s fanclub (MV) didn’t announce this IN CONJUNCTION WITH Verizon, like previous No Frills events, but rather let Verizon have the exclusive & hit the wires first with it, with MV only playing catch-up after they got wind of us knowing about this Verizon exclusive, is poor planning and really POOR JUDGMENT on Boorman’s part if you ask me. Yes, the exclusive/lead position Verizon wanted on this deal is worth several hundred thousand (or maybe more) dollars to Keith The Corporation’s coffers but truly this is on the backs of the fans and leaves a real bad taste in my mouth. Boorman keeps desperately trying to expand Keith’s fanbase to those elusive country-lovin’ dudes that follow Kenny & Tim, but they just haven’t been able to crack that market open. This is another attempt at that I guess. But who gets burned — the fan girls who have been Keith’s bread & butter for more than a decade. Keith’s ticket prices have gone inexplicably astronomically higher (effectively doubled since last year’s tour — and in a down economy) the pre-sales sucked for all involved, and now I have to subscribe to an expensive & unnecessary music download service (and the music fidelity delivered in this service sucks) to be eligible to attend these shows. I’m a Verizon customer & a charter Keith fan from “back in the day” and I don’t feel special or even frankly interested either way.

I wonder if Dierks’ tour is coming to a venue near me this summer…

  10. DMB says:

I must say I’ve been disappointed in MV too. And I was shocked that Keith’s tix prices doubled since last tour (at least for Mohegan Sun). I have a feeling his having Sugarland open had something to do with that though, on top of Mohegan always charging more than other venues. I am a Verizon customer but I’m not going to pay the extra for Vcast just to enter a contest I most likely won’t win. I’ll have to hope I win through MV though I’m not holding my breath there either since I still haven’t even won a BSE. I went on eBay yesterday to see what they had for tix for Boston and was shocked at some of the prices. I’d like to take my 2 kids to see Keith and I can’t afford to pay $800-$1000 for 4 tickets! It’s crazy! I am completely fed up with the scalpers and promoters and sponsors getting all the tickets! Why can’t Keith have some concerts (all over the world) where only his true fans, members of MV are allowed to attend. That is what a true fan club should offer!

  11. KL says:

Whine, whine, whine… man you people really need to stop blaming Keith for every little thing. What do you want him to do, come to you directly on bended knee and give you special treatment? Grow up!! Verizon happens to be one of Keith’s main sponsors, along wiht KC Masterpiece and Gain, and a few others. If you know anything at all about corporate sponsorship (hint: you’re on the internet, so use it too look these things up instead of bellyaching all the time), these artists are contracted to perform certain things in order to get and/or maintain a corporate sponsor. They have loads of money riding on him, and if he doesn’t get sued, he must abide by the clauses in every contract he signs. Now, I’m sorry if he’s not babying you people, but get over it. It’s not his job to baby his fans. He loves his fans, and he does everything he can do that is humanly possible. Every single year it’s the same old thing, whinge, whinge, whinge and cry like the big titty babies you are. Get a life. If you want to quit the fan club, then just quit and stop embarrassing yourself by complaining all the time.

  12. KL says:

doesn’t WANT to get sued, is what I meant to write… oh well, Keith isn’t perfect and neither am I.

  13. TawnyTucker says:

First KL…I get the sponsorship thing…I really do. But let’s not exaggerate and say he does everything humanly possible…i mean…come on already…anyone who is a member of just about anyone elses fanclub can see that’s not true.

  14. Ice Priness says:

Um, This is a Verizon thing……the fact that ANY members of his fan club are getting tickets is awesome…and they are FREE! I entered, and I sure hope I win…… but if not, you won’t see me cryin’ and whinin’.
