Lady Antebellum at the Opry

Last night was so much fun.  The Grand Ole Opry staff is exceptional and so helpful.  I took my 3 year old son to the Opry for his first “concert” experience.  He is a big fan of Lady Antebellum (just like his mommy) and they were signing autographs and taking pictures before the show in the Opry Store.  Unfortunately, the horrible Nashville weather did not permit us to stand outside in the cold rain for an hour to meet them.  So we headed inside the store to catch a glimpse of them before the show.  My son ran right up front and started waving at them.  They were so nice to him.  They waved back and Charles invited him up to play ball with him and the staff asked if he wanted a picture.  Because by 3 year old is stubborn and all of a sudden wanted to play shy he said no to the picture but had a blast playing ball with Charles and flirted mercilessly with Hilary.

We headed in for the show after Lady A was finished with the signing.  The two hour show proved to be too much for my 3 year old so we spent most of our time out  in the hallway passing ball and listening to the show over the speakers.  The show sounded amazing.  My son really enjoyed Joe Diffie, he asked if we could go back to our seats to watch him.

Lady Antebellum came on last and we headed down to sit in the front row for their performance.  They sounded amazing and had the great Lady A energy that I LOVE.  My son was a little distracted at first and kept asking me why they wouldn’t wave back at him.  Then finally Hilary caught a glimpse of him and walked by and waved.  The look on his face was pure amazement.  He had so much fun and asked if we could do it again the next night.

After the show I asked my son if he had a good time.  He said, “That was so cool mommy.  So much better than on TV.  I was there!”  “The girl waved at me but the boy didn’t but that’s alright.  He played ball with me.”  “Can we go to bed now?”

That about sums up our night.  It was a great experience and I am so excited that his first concert was the Grand Ole Opry.  I have memories that will last forever now.  Thank you to Lady Antebellum for taking the time to talk and play with him.  He had a great time and is still talking about it this morning.

He keeps asking me this morning if he can go back and get his picture taken. He already wishes he had. : ( Mommy was not very happy with that last night. But what do you do with a 3 year old? Oh well. I am sure he will get another chance one day. : )
