I’ve been overwhelmed by the number of fans who are still emailing and commenting about the Keith Urban Fanclub Presale debacle. I never, in a million years, thought so many fans shared my same thoughts. I mean, Keith Urban fans go to the ends of the earth for Keith. Many fans admit to selling stuff on ebay to purchase primo seats….Fans hang up thousands of fliers for a chance to win meet and greets. I think he’s an amazing guitar player and a great entertainer.
That being said, it was Keith himself who said “You’ve got a voice let it be heard….” So, we want to HEAR you, we want Keith to HEAR you….We’ve set up a Country Music Tattle Tale Youtube account and we want to post YOUR videos. A couple faithful readers have already begun sending us videos and we’re posting them as quickly as we can. So we want to hear what you want as a fan…how you feel about the presales…how you think it should be changed.
We want Keith to know that we love him, but we want to feel the love in return. Please email a short video of 1 minute or less to Tawny@countrymusictattletale.com
UPDATED: I just thought that I would add this post from Keith Urbans message boards that a fan sent to me today. Looks like the moderator was trying to explain why things happened the way they did and dug himself into a deeper ditch.
Hey gang…I just wanted to take a second to respond to all of the concerns raised about the presales in one post (because I cannot conceivably respond to each one individually).
Anyone who has been on the message board in the past few days has undoubtedly seen that many members were unhappy with the results of the presales, but many members are thrilled with their presale tickets.I first want to echo what I‘ve mentioned before…tickets were held by Ticketmaster in every third row starting with the floor. There were more floor seats available this year than last because Keith will be having a smaller catwalk. The number of floor seats that were held did vary depending on the size of the venue. Large quantities of seats were held for Monkeyville members for every show that had a presale.
The disappointment that some of you experienced was a direct result of the sheer size of Monkeyville. Remember that thousands of members have a presale code to purchase the tickets that went on sale two days ago. That is an overwhelming number of people competing for what is, in comparison, a small number of tickets. We did hold a large number of seats for each show, but there were an even larger number of MV members trying to purchase those seats.
I know that many people expected floor seats from the Monkeyville presales, and many people’s expectations were met, but it is a matter of fact that there was an overwhelming demand for a small supply of tickets. In such a situation, there are always going to be people who are left disappointed with their results.
I have to remind you that the presale ticketing policy states that Monkeyville members are only guaranteed the opportunity to purchase presale tickets. Monkeyville does not guarantee that all of you receive the best seats in the house, just that all of you receive an opportunity to buy tickets before the general public.
I have also read your concerns that tickets have been available through scalpers and eBay and members of this message board have been attempting to sell tickets above the price they paid. I want you all to know that we take these reports very seriously and that Ticketmaster does everything in their power to prevent these instances from occurring. It is truly unfortunate that people take advantage of the system and even more unfortunate that they take advantage of your love of Keith Urban and his music. All we can do is try our best to keep the problem from happening.
Though the Will Call system seems like a logical solution, we cannot use it because of the sheer number of tickets we hold for all of you at each show make it impossible, as the Will Call would be overwhelmed with people waiting for their tickets.
It has been expressed by a few members that Monkeyville, management, and Keith’s team do not care about the problem and do not wish to fix it and I want to tell you now that is not the truth. We do pass on all of your suggestions and concerns and we do try to please as many people as possible with the resources available. We think this is the most unique and excellent community and we are all happy that we have been part of this experience.
On that note, I want to thank all of you who have shown support during these last hectic few days. You guys are what make Monkeyville such a special place. You all are what make this community more than just an opportunity to purchase tickets early, but a place where people can come together and celebrate an exceptional artist and his music. I hope that this board and the rest of Monkeyville continue to remain a positive and rewarding place to be as it has in the past.
If I were a Keith Urban fan club member and read this I would irrate! This truly shows you that the Keith Urban fan club doesn’t take care of their members when it comes to fan club concert tickets. I won’t even get started on how much better this could have been for fan club members.

Let’s make getting good concert tickets to Keith Urban concerts a MUST so that we can all celebrate Keith Urban and his remarkable music.

I agree with you, that explanation seems weak. I am also a member of the Bon Jovi Fan Club, which I believe has more members and they still have a system where you pick up tickets at the venue. The effort by that FC is greatly appreciated because you get the best tickets and the money spent for membership is well worth it. There are definitely ways of getting around this complaint but I guess it is not worth it for the management of Keith’s FC to come up with a solution.
WHATEVER!! If they care so much why put 25 or so tour dates all on sale at the same time.
I honestly think they do care about their fans it’s just that he has so many people in his fan club there is too big of a demand and not enough amazing seats for all of them! Don’t blame Keith he did nothing wrong!
I was just at the Brad Paisley show in Hamilton, ON tonight, where we sat in the second row thanks to Brad’s fanclub. I can’t believe that Monkeyville can’t do something like that. More like they won’t.
Luke (the mod on the monkeyville site) stated that there are too many members of Monkeyville to ever do a will call deal for presales and I just can’t believe that’s true. Brad has to have just as many members, if not more. And it works just fine for him. I am a happy camper and could easily see myself defecting from the KU camp over to Brad’s wonderful club. If only I didn’t love Keith so much.
I have partaken in SEVERAL presales this week, including two for Mohegan, one for State College, one for Moline, one for Detroit and one for Des Moines. The best seats I got were sixth row for Des Moines, and guess what? That is a will call only show, meaning that the tickets have to be picked up the day of the show by the credit card holder. Brokers can’t get their hands on those tickets, so we end up with good ones. Anyone can join Keith’s site, get the presale code, buy one of those fancy-dancy ticket machines and score themselves some sweet tickets to his shows. And the real fans are sitting in the 27th row. Give me a break! Anyway, I need to get to sleep because I have to get up early to go on Ticketmaster where I will be searching for tickets during the general sale of three shows because I couldn’t get anything but upper bowl seats during Keith’s members-only presale. What did I pay that $25 for again?
Kristin, Kristin, Kristin, You’re so naive….That has NOTHING to do with it. Keith does NOT hold the best seats for his fans…that’s the issue…of course there are more fans than there are great seats…but he doesn’t hold the best seats for his fans….Keith let’s the “business” side of everything be handled by his people…he knows what’s goign on, he just doesn’t care…Unfortunately, the fans fall into the “business” side. I love Keith…I just want him to love me.
Don’t tell me that Keith has too many people in his fanclub. I doubt it is that much larger than BP’s or the Flatt boys. The issue starts with him reserving “every 3rd row.” It should be the first TEN rows, and then whatever doesn’t sell during presale can go to the general sale. Of course, many of those seats that should belong to us are held for the ticketbastard auctions. I, too, got better seats for one of my intended concerts through Sugarland. I’m off to join all the fanclubs of all of his opening acts (yes, I’m even going to put money in Taylor Swift’s pocket *gag*). When I can’t draw a decent seat for ONE ticket to the Moline show at the M’ville presale, or all the presale codes I found on the internet — and of course nothing on the general sale day — then something is wrong with the system. I just wanted one freakin’ ticket that wasn’t in row 42.
Keith wake up! An artist is NOTHING with out his fans! Now that you have made it, I hope you take care of the fans..who helped you get there!!! Does NOT seem like every third row was in presales! Seems more like those seats landed on sites to be sold even before MV presale..makes me think that corruption is even going on in MV! Hopefully you will makes changes to assure better seats for your fans.. don’t you think they deserve that?! I know you are a giving caring man, please show us that!!! We should not have to go join your opening acts presales to get the better seats, but it seems like we can’t get the seats through MV. So I ask you, why should we pay the $$ and join?!? Yea.. I think I will pass on my renewal and NOT.. UNLESS it all changes!
Thank you for doing this Tawny. You did the best thing by joining Sugarland’s fan club. They will treat you well – unlike Monkeyville. From the above comment, it is obvious that Keith doesn’t have a clue how to treat his fan club like other acts do, and they obviously don’t plan on changing things. Trust me, don’t renew your membership, you WILL get better ticket sales through the general sale or sometimes your local radio stations will have pre-sales as well. They say Monkeyville is too large and can’t support the demand. That’s a joke. The number of fans have decreased because of this reason alone. Like my name says – you have the power to control this. Don’t give them your money when you are up for renewal, and maybe then Keith will start looking at why his numbers are going down.
kristin – Keith is in COMPLETE charge of how his fan club is handled. He has the final say – no one else does! Remember, it is the Keith Urban Fan Club – not the Luke Fan Club! I have attended some of Dierks’ fan club activities, and I couldn’t believe what it felt like to be treated like a true fan. I have never been to anything like that when I was a member of the KU fan club. Seeing the way Dierks treats his fan and the terrible pre-sales was the final straw for me when it came to renewal for Monkeyville.
Luke said seats were held for MV members in every third row. He did not say every 3rd row was held. Which means there could be as few as 2 seats held in every 3rd row. He airn’t telling how many either.
Now as to there being too many fans in MV wanting tickets, just do the math. Every member will not be attending every show. There are around 30,000 MV members. For the 60 shows in the tour, that comes to 500 hundred in every venue. Now if each of those 500 bought 2 tickets, that’s 1,000 tickets for MV members per show. Wouldn’t it be nice if Keith required TM to reserve 1,000 to 1,500 of the best seats for his fan club members out of the 15,000 to 20,000 seats in each venue which only amounts to around 10%. But I guess it’s out of the question to expect him to value his loyal fans half as much as they value hi m.

I am just as frustrated with the presale mess as you all are – I honestly don’t think I could be a bigger fan! I’m not going to go into the extent of my obsession….but I don’t think a true fan would say that Keith is not doing anything about it. It’s not like he does nothing but sit around and deal with fan club problems – he is out there writing and recording new music for US to enjoy. I think that’s more important than this issue. I am quite irritated with the system and I hope it changes since I just spent almost 300 dollars for 2 tickets to sit in the 8th row, but until it changes, I’m riding it out. I can’t believe that anyone would say they’re not going to renew their membership because of this issue – I’m sure the next presales will be better. It’s not ONLY Keith making all of these decisions. I don’t think anyone really understands just how busy Keith is. God forbid he have one free moment to stop worrying about touring and spend time with his daughter. It’s selfish of anyone to say that he doesn’t care about us – trust me, I’ve won a contest through Monkeyville to see Keith perform at Daytona, and I know that the fan club is not the hell hole you’re all making it out to be. GET OUT OF THE FAN CLUB IF YOU’RE SO UNHAPPY! If any of you are going to let your membership to Monkeyville expire and join another fan club, do it. It’s sad that he is that easily replaced for you. Some of us love him for his music and his talent and not because he has a perfect fan club.
