The night got off to a very slow start. I have been to the Wildhorse Saloon for many concerts and shows. Never in my life have I seen so much disorganization as I saw last night. The people working the door at the show last night were not prepared for the amount of people that were there. People had to stand in numerous lines both inside and out in order to get through the door. If you ordered tickets at will call you had an additional line to stand in to then only be sent to the back of the line outside. People all around us were complaining. You would think that as many concerts and events that they do they would be more prepared and organized.
So after waiting at the will call line for over 45 minutes we finally got in the door. The place was already packed so we had to find a place at the bar to sit. I have never seen the Wildhorse packed so full. Standing room only with people touching shoulder to shoulder. It was amazing. It was great to see all of the support coming out for Zac Brown Band.
I will be fully honest with you. The opening act – I don’t know who they were. I know a few of our readers were there, if you know the name of the group email us. They came of stage and Tawny and I thought that they were pretty good. But they went on and on and on and on. Forever. Zac Brown Band didn’t hit the stage until after 8:30 and we had been there since 5:30. Way too long for us to wait for an opening act on stage.
BUT the good news is…..once Zac Brown Band hit the stage they were amazing. The members of this band are true musicians. They care about the music and really connect with it and the crowd. Anyone can sing in a studio and put out an album. These guys sounds even better live. They played one of the best versions of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” that Tawny and I have EVER heard.
The entire Wildhorse Saloon was on their feet all night jamming and singing to this good old southern music. As I mentioned last night Zac Brown announced that he and his wife are expecting a child.
I didn’t get a ton of pictures – the place was packed from wall to wall and it made it very difficult to get good shots. All of the pictures last night are posted on our MySpace page.
If you were there last night leave us a comment and let us know what you thought. I definitely think that Zac Brown Band is a great addition to country music and I am so excited to see what they have planned for 2009.

I was there last night and it was amazing. I think you are right, they are a great addition to country music. I want more! LOL Sorry we didn’t meet up last night, just too many people to account for.
Right on the money CG….I am not positive I totally dig ZBB music style, but the guy can sing and their musicianship is AMAZING!!!! I thought they sounded great!!!! Oh, and the opening act was far too long….The guy was John Karl and his band….good, but over an hour of the same ole stuff got a little old.
I’ve encountered the same problems with disorganization at the Wildhorse many times. I simply don’t understand why they can’t streamline their admittance process. You’d think they would have figured it out by now. It’s a zoo!
