Okay, I’m in the process of attempting to upload video and pictures, but here’s a review anyway. Everyone on Earth knows that I went to see Keith Urban at the Opry last night…Keith was the main event…the ONE person I wanted to meet. Well, I was sadly disappointed. We waited in the alley behind the Ryman for 4 hours. Luckily, it was a breezy 70 degrees downtown Nashville, so the wait wasn’t too bad. We got to meet Jamey Johnson, Chuck Wicks, and Julianne Hough. I didn’t get pictures or autographs for myself just spoke to them. Well, Keith was set to play the 8:30-9:00pm segment of the Opry. At 8:15 we got word that he was already inside. Apparently, they saw the VERY VERY large crowd waiting out the back door, and since Nicole was with him, he parked his Bentley and then walked right in the front door. Am I disappointed, yes! But I do understand. Julianne and Chuck were mobbed to say the least, and not wanting to turn people away, were signing and posing for pictures until they were almost too late.
Anyhow, Keith was first to perform at the 2nd show. He sang an incredible acoustic version of “Sweet Thing” and “Making Memories of Us.” As long as you keep your ticket stub, you can leave and re-enter the Ryman, so I bolted out of my seat to head out and stand next to his car…unfortunately, his Bentley is pretty obvious so about 20 people had the same idea. A couple of people were lucky enough to get Nicole’s autograph, but Keith’s hands were full of gifts so he just made his way through the crowd smiling and got into his car. I have no doubt he woulda hung around if his wife wasn’t with him. I think he gets more protective of her when there is just a mass crowd without baracades or security.
Anyhow, back inside I became a fan of Julianne Hough and Chuck Wicks. Wow…they both look and sounded amazing!!!! I am no the proud owner of a Chuck Wicks CD. I will post video and pictures as I get them loaded.
I have been to the Opry 4 times. This was by far THE BEST show ever!!!! Keith is really amazing solo and acoustic. He really comes across as very humble, human, and actually nervous. Jamey Johnson was actually funny, and not quite as depressing as he normally is. Chuck and Julianne were amazing!
Anyhow, I’m tired from running on only 4 hours of sleep. Looks like I’m going to have to find other means to meet Keith Urban. I know my time will come, and I know when it does it will be amazing. So, Keith, if you’re reading this…(cha right)…I’m waiting. I promise…I only want once, I have a lot of things to tell you and to thank you for…oh, and a hug and a picture wouldn’t hurt either…Then, I’ll leave you alone. I’ll simply watch from my seat and be thankful I met you once.
