Taylor Swift has slowly become one of my favorite country artists to follow. She is young, in touch with her fans and so full of spunk. The last Taylor concert that I attended (she was opening for Rascal Flatts) I was surprized to find myself screaming for Taylor just as loud as the tween age girls in the crowd.
So why are people being so mean to her?
Some are saying that she isn’t country…that she is pop. So what, Top 40 radio picks up some of her songs. That means she writes and sings good music that everyone can enjoy. Really, those pop music fans could learn a lot from down home country girl.
Then people spread rumors that she is pregnant and a silly Jonas Brother decides that he wants to break up over the phone in a 27 second phone call!!
Now people are hacking her MySpace account. She posted this blog last night;
It’s that time of year again! Someone decided to hack into my myspace. Cool, right? I just love it when they hack in and delete my pictures and change my top friends and wreak other various forms of havoc. Not. Please don’t think it’s me. Because I love you. Thanks for being my friend and being awesome and understanding. I’m watching Crossroads on CMT, it’s on right now!!

We agree – seriously, some people don’t give Taylor enough credit. She’s 18 years old, very talented, very REAL, very genuine, and has an extreme gift for connecting with an audience during her live show! People need to leave her alone! We actually do think that a lot of her new music isn’t very country sounding at all…BUT, good music is good music…does the label really matter?
The only reason we don’t like the “pop” label is because it’s really hard to get rid of it in the country music world. We think that this is one of the reasons that our Rascal Flatts boys keep getting stiffed from the CMA board. When they first started out everyone said they had no place in country because they had the “pop” sound to them (we disagree with this statement by the way) . We just hope that doesn’t happen to Taylor to.
